Knee pain is different for everyone, with some people experiencing dull, constant, annoying aches that annoy all day long, and other people feel intense, sharp knee pain that is so bad it stops them from walking.
However there are a few common knee pain problems that bring people in El Paso into our clinic.
On this page, you can discover more about your knee pain, and the most effective, natural knee pain treatment options available to you. These are proven strategies that I’ve used for over a decade in working with people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who want to live an active and mobile lifestyle without relying on medications, injections, or surgery.
Knee arthritis is the most common type of knee problem we see in people over the age of 50. It can range from mild stiffness with occasional pain to constant pain and an inability to to walk more than a few minutes without making it worse. In some people, they’ll develop a Baker’s Cyst before they’re diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis.
Fortunately, knee pain due to knee osteoarthritis can be relieved without pain medication, injections, and surgery can nearly always be avoided. It is NOT just a part of getting old - despite what your doctor may have told you!
A torn meniscus in the knee joint often swells and creates popping and clicking sounds in the knee. It usually gets worse the more active people are but there are typically times when there is no pain at all.
Meniscus surgery is often recommended by doctors, even though the surgery is known to increase the chances of knee arthritis developing sooner! But surgery is nearly always avoidable with our treatment approach once we focus on addressing the root muscle imbalances causing the meniscus tear.
Tearing the ACL (or any other major ligament in the knee like the MCL, LCL, and PCL) can seem like a devastating injury because it usually happens as a result of a sports accident or car crash. Yet it happens without an accident more often than people think!
Healing a torn ACL without surgery is very often possible. And it’s also ideal because surgeons have to change the anatomy of the knee to do a proper ACL reconstruction. They will take tendon from your hamstring or just below your knee cap to use as a new ACL. This leaves other areas of your knee weakened and vulnerable to injury later in life.
Swelling and pain in the knee that can’t be blamed on arthritis or a meniscus tear is typically due to bursitis or tendonitis. The pain almost always gets worse when more active. It gets tender and even swollen in 1 or 2 spots. This usually gets better with rest, but comes right back once active again.
Knee pain at the front behind the kneecap often affects people as young as teenage years. These 2 conditions share the same root problem, but chondromalacia patella is a progression from patellofemoral pain syndrome where the cartilage becomes damaged.
Both conditions can heal completely once the right treatment is done. Yet both conditions are typically handled poorly by most healthcare professionals.
